Too Much to Do
I apologize for having no time to be clever or quirky with this opening. I’ve a got on my plate.

And my eyes are bigger than my stomach.
So, without going into too much detail, here’s what I am up to this year.
Publishing the Next Book
Project S2 is on its way to its first publication this year. That means I am going to be repeating a lot of the same preparations I did last year to give this book the best possible launch.
Of course, it helps that I now have an understanding of everything that goes into a book launch. I learned a lot from Advent 9, and am convinced that every book I release hereafter will be an even bigger success.
But speaking of Advent 9…
Marketing is Still in Full Swing

I have gotten a lot better at marketing since October. Behind the scenes, I’ve been working on new software to give Advent 9 the biggest possible push. In the past, I’ve used similar software to sharpen the signal-to-noise ratio of my impact on the internet, and it has worked wonders.
With a little bit of manipulation, I can swing the pendulum even farther. I can’t go into the details, but look for Advent 9 to suddenly start making splashes where it wasn’t before.
But marketing is greatly helped by any measure of publicity, which is why I have even more exciting news.
I Will Be Presenting at LtUE
Life, the Universe, and Everything is the biggest business-oriented science fiction symposium in Utah, and this year I have been invited to sit on three panels. This will be my first time presenting at a convention, and I am beyond enthusiastic.
Here is where you can find me at the symposium:
- “Make Social Media Work for You” — Thursday, February 16 at 6PM.
- “Best Written Video Game Characters” — Friday, February 17 at 10AM.
- “Beyond the Wheelchair: Writing Invisible Disabilities” — Friday, February 17 at 1PM.
These panels are all organized by others. The panels I submitted as my own were sadly not accepted (which means a lot of people will miss out on industry secrets I have unique insight into). But I will be largely free between panels to talk to anyone who wants to help up their writing and publishing efforts.
New Website Incoming
TAlanHorne.com has served me very well for many years. It has a lot of powerful lessons on writing and other aspects of life that have yet to be discovered by the wider public.
It is also, unfortunately, a rather basic website obviously designed by a non-professional. As a software engineer, I could likely learn the skills necessary to build a top-notch WordPress site, but I have so many other things on my plate that I’m looking instead to hire out the project to someone who does things like this on the regular.
As such, you’re going to see an entirely new Book of Secrets before long, with all the landing pages and bells and whistles you would expect from a bestselling author’s website. Details are scarce at the moment. Stay tuned to see the magic as it happens.
Until Next Time, Citizens of Earth!
More Fan Art Fridays are incoming. As is the last Iconetics class. Plus more Hints.
Granted, I don’t know when I’ll get around to all these things, but they are all on my list, and you will see all of the above things in the coming year.
Come find me at LtUE. We can have lunch or play ultimate frisbee or anything else you want to do. I am ready to have some fun and talk shop.

Never miss a secret. Subscribe to the blog.
