Real Progress

May 15, 2017 | Books, Me, Writing

Looking back at my blog, it’s hard to imagine that this project started out as a way of me to make myself accountable in my book writing progress. Because that’s really not what it has become. And, as with a lot of projects, some things take on a whole new shape as they mature.

I’ve spiced up the site with some insights, started a couple of miniseries, made a few enemies, and even changed the course of history.

And also I’ve punctuated my points with a lot of insane graphical aids—some pertinent to the material, and others wildly outlandish.

I’ve explored more than one platform, taking my posts to both WordPress and Steemit, and I have learned to amplify my reach through the use of social media, such as Twitter and Facebook. This has been a fun experience for me.

But it has also largely been a diversion from what I’m really doing.

Because what I’ve really been doing, in the background, is writing books.

And I’ve largely been keeping the nature of these books a secret, since it is rarely a good idea to tell someone what you’re working on until you’ve already done it. You don’t want to become beholden to the expectations of other people, after all.

However, I am approaching a tipping point, and I am making excellent progress toward having a finished product, at which point I will have to switch from doing the things I have to do on my own to make this book succeed, to doing the things I have to do with the help of others to make sure it gets published. All books go through this, and I have to be ready for it before it happens.

As such, you may see something more along the lines of real progress reports on my blog. I will be dealing a lot less with hypotheticals and a lot more with things that are actually happening to me. So you may see a shakeup in the kinds of posts I produce on Mondays (and maybe even a change of format for my Netflixing posts, as well; we shall see).

So get ready for another evolution of Mr. Horne’s Book of Secrets. If all goes well, this may become the chronicle of my first published novel (or two). I intend to keep updating regularly, as in the past, and you can rest assured that certain storylines that have yet to be resolved are still in the works for resolution, though they may take some extra time to get onto the site.

Keep a look out for new posts, new pages, and new material from me. You may find that the advice I dispense here will take a turn from writing advice to publishing advice, and I may explore a number of different topics relating to these pursuits.

In the meantime, I want to thank everyone who has been following me so far. I hope to have something to show you all soon.
