Iiiiiiiit’s launch week!
Secret Sky: The Young Universe will be available on August 21, 2024 (this coming Wednesday). And there are so many reasons to read it as soon as it drops.
In case you haven’t been watching the first twelve chapters for free on YouTube, you’ll still be interested to know that the book will be available in hardcover, digital, and audio formats.
And as easy as it would be to find any of these with a Google search, it may still helpful for me to provide a list of places where the curious can get their copies of the book. This title is a broad release, meaning that I have not confined it to a single platform. And while many storefronts will be adding it in the coming days, the book can already be preordered in a number of places.
Here’s your handy guide to securing your copy.
Hardcover
For the moment, all hardcover sales are being handled through Amazon. Though I will continue to fight for Secret Sky: The Young Universe to appear in bookstores without restriction, I have to admit this is an uphill battle. There may be developments in the works, but I ask you to bear with me until such things can be brought to light.
The first shipment of hardcovers is already on its way to the Amazon warehouses, meaning that the hardcover version will appear on Amazon within the next few days. Amazon, unfortunately, does not allow a preorder period on physical books. If they did, then this title would have been available for prepurchase months ago.
The sales page for the hardcover will be of no use until Amazon receives the shipment. But you can find the link HERE.
Audio
The audiobook is already available for preorder on Apple Books and Barnes and Noble.

A lot of lesser-known platforms also have the audiobook ready for preorder. Check your preferred provider of audiobooks. (Kobo and Google Books should probably have it as soon as it launches).
However, two places where the book is not yet hosted is Audible and Spotify. Spotify apparently doesn’t allow preorders on audiobooks, but Secret Sky: The Young Universe should be available on launch day.
Audible, on the other hand…
Well, in theory the book should be purchasable on Audible on launch day. However, in my past experience with Audible they have proven themselves…unprofessional in their release schedules. Advent 9 didn’t appear on their platform until a week after it’s official launch everywhere else. And much as I might hope they have cleaned up their act since them, I have been given no assurances.
Regardless, Secret Sky: The Young Universe will be available on Audible eventually.
Digital
The ebook of Secret Sky: The Young Universe is already available everywhere for preorder. The five main retailers for it are

The Draft2Digital aggregator will be in charge of putting the ebook everywhere else, including Smashwords. A simple search on any ebook retailer should point you right to the book’s sales page.
Paperback?
Not yet, unfortunately.
I’ll likely revisit the subject after a year. I know that the book is good enough to be available in both paperback and hardcover formats, and if I was an established publisher, you would be seeing a paperback release on the same timeline as what other publishers typically do with their premier titles.
I am not there yet. But in a year…who knows?
Sequels?
Both Secret Sky: The Young Universe and Advent 9 have sequels in the works. Producing them will take some time, however, as I have found it to be difficult to write and publish at the same time.
The good news is that both books already have a book design pinned down which can be easily transferred to new manuscripts. Meaning I’ll save a lot of time on publishing the sequels by not re-doing all the work from scratch.
That said, I’m still nowhere close to estimating a release date for either sequel. But you can help the process along by buying and supporting Secret Sky: The Young Universe. Reviews, especially, are appreciated.
